In The Long Weekend…
(I never understood long weekends until this one came up!)
In the long weekend, I mostly just went out with my family, to places where most of my relatives lived. It was a blazing hot day, even though it was cloudy. So I grabbed an ice block and hopped into the car.
As we drove along the motorway I thought to myself: ‘Where are we going?’ I knew my brother was thinking the same thing because he asked the same question to my parents. They replied with
“You’ll see...”
and at that exact same moment I knew that I was doomed.
Leaving the motorway and entering Favona, that meant we were going to visit my grandma in Otara. Otara to me was great because I always got to smell the pleasant aromas happening outside. I still remember the smell of fish and chips as it hit me when the windows were rolled down. We finally reached our destination aka my grandma’s house. It was pretty unusual because the place wasn’t packed. Long story short, the visit was short. I found out we just went there to give fish to them.
As we left my grandma’s house we found out that Otara had a secret shortcut to my cousins living in Manurewa. So we stopped there to give some fish to them but ended up staying there until night. It was worth it though because we had a family bbq with lots of Island food and fizzy drink. After we finished eating, the kids had to do an item for the parents to watch as they ate. We just did the whip and nae nae because it was easy for the little kids to follow. The girls then separated from the boys and went into the room. They mostly just gossiped when I was playing colour switch.
Then, it was time to head home. In conclusion, it was alright… just kidding it, was awesome. That was the best long weekend ever. By long, I mean looooooooooooooooooooooong because this recount is only about Monday.
